August Issue of Craft Stamper

I had an excited email from Jill (from The Stamp Man) last night telling me that Debbie had just received her subscribers copy of the August issue of Craft Stamper.

For those of you who regularly read my blog you may remember me mentioning that I had been asked to design the cover mount stamp for this issue. You may also remember that at the time I wasn't allowed to tell you what it was and that I was really struggling to do some sample cards with it!! Well in the end it all came together and I ended up making more than was required so I have no idea which ones Katy (editor of CS) decided to use, so here is a little snippet from one of them!! To see what else Katy and I did with the stamp you will have to get the magazine!!

As you can see from this sneaky peek the stamp is a dragonfly. It has been designed to work well with the Flitters and Flutters stamp sheet that I did some time ago now for The Stamp Man. This time though the dragonfly is a solid image unlike the ones on the Flitters and Flutters stamp sheet which were outline images. Anyway I hope you like it and if anyone makes anything using this stamp please do let me know as I would love to see your creations.

Last Of The Cuttlebug Cards

Here is the second card we made from the afternoon class at The Glitter Pot using that same daisy stamp. This time I chose to use the two folders next to each other to form the background on the maize coloured panel. The colouring was done using those Coloursoft pencils again.

I cannot believe that there are only a few days left of this month and that next weekend it is Newbury!! The days really do seem to be just flying past. I haven't been to the Newbury show for a couple of years now and am really looking forward to it. More Blog Candy?

As I'm sure most of you are aware The Stamp Man's Blog Candy has now finished and been claimed which means it is over to me to offer up the Fancy Flourish stamp sheet along with some accessories for one lucky person to win. I have decided to start it this weekend so do check back then to see exactly what you will win and what you will need to do to enter!!

Personally I think the Fancy Flourish stamp sheet is the most versatile of the latest three stamp sheets and will definitely be the one that I will get the most use out of. Stamping a few flourishes here and there can often be just the finishing touch that a card needs and of course you have a lot of wording to choose from on this sheet too. Flourishes go with anything and I purposely made these flourishes generic i.e. no flowers in with them so that they can be used with any imagery.

Delicate Daisies

Daisies are one of my favourite types of flowers. There are so many different types and colours of daisies(and daisy shaped flowers) that I could never get bored of them, and somehow they seem such friendly flowers.

So as soon as I saw this daisy stamp by Magenta I just had to have it and as it had got swirls as well I couldn't ask for more!! This is one of the cards that we made last Saturday afternoon. The daisies were coloured with Coloursoft pencils. The pink background was double-embossed onto Coredinations cardstock - first using the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder and then using the Stylized Flower. The green paper is by My Minds Eye.

Spikey Flowers

Morning everyone. Thanks to everyone who posted a comment about whether those little critters that I drew on the Funky Frames stamp sheet are dragonflies or butterflies. It seems that you can't make your minds up either!! At the moment butterflies are winning by a whisker at 5 for butterflies and 4 for dragonflies but it is not too late for you to have your say under this post. It just goes to prove what I have said all along about not being able to draw!!

Anyway here is the other card that we made on Saturday morning, this time using a floral stamp by Hobby Art which I must say I rather like!! The stamp you can see in the background (on the pink panel) is Scrolling Along by Penny Black. It is such a lovely delicate stamp and most definitely one of my favourites at the moment. As you can see we used the same Cuttlebug embossing folder (Stylized Flowers) but this time embossed a brown Coredinations panel. I have got to say that I am a real fan of this range of card as I just love the fact of being able to have a different colour coming through. Plus it is textured so looks good anyway even if you don't sand/distress it. As you can see I am still really liking the brown and pink theme. Hope you like it too!! Purple and Blue Clusters

Well it seems as if the jury is still out as to whether the critters on my card yesterday are dragonflies or butterflies as currently it stands at 2 all!! So if anyone gets time do leave me a comment and let me know what you think as I would quite like to know what to call them myself!!

As promised here is one of the cards that we made on the morning class on Saturday using Penny Black stamps.. The flowers were coloured using the Coloursoft pencils just on their own without any blending solution. The Cuttlebug Stylized Flowers embossing folder was used to emboss the purple Coredinations panel. I'll post up the other card we did in the morning tomorrow.

The Last of Jill's Cards

Morning everyone. I am already behind this morning as I just did not want to get up after doing my classes yesterday at The Glitter Pot. I nearly fell asleep again on the settee last night but just about managed to hold it together!! I think that everyone enjoyed the classes yesterday - the feedback that I got was certainly very positive which always makes it really worthwhile so thanks guys!

I will begin loading up the cards that we did tomorrow so you can see what we got up to. Meanwhile here is the last of the cards that I sent to Jill, who as I type this will be busy at the Doncaster show. If anyone out there reads this blog and goes to this show do let me know what you think of the cards in real life. I have got to say that this is probably my least favourite of the ones that I did for Jill as again I thought I would try a different colour scheme and didn't really like this one but then just because I don't like it doesn't mean that other people won't so I decided to include it. The background on the left of the card was done with a couple of colours from the Mayday Meadow Starburst Stain set and then was stamped with different flourishes and inkpads. The panel that you see on the right of the card was a piece of plain green textured card that I just stamped over with those flourishes again. The dragonflies/butterflies are from the Funky Frames stamp sheet. Perhaps you guys can help me out with this? I originally drew these insects as being dragonflies but now I can't make up my mind whether they look like dragonflies or butterflies!! What do you think???

Pretty In Pink

Here's another one of those cards that are now with Jill in readiness for the Doncaster show. Again I built up the background using different flourishes from the Fancy Flourish stamp sheet. The wording was also taken from this sheet and the letters cut out individually.

The main image is from the Funky Frames sheet and was coloured using Coloursoft pencils and Sansador to give a nice muted finish. Out of all of the ones I did for Jill I think that this is probably my favourite. Infact I nearly couldn't bring myself to part with it so she doesn't know how lucky she is that she has got this one!!

The Coloursoft pencils and Sansador along with the stamp sheets can be purchased from The Craft Barn or of course you can get the stamp sheets from Jill at The Stamp Man.

Busy As Usual!

Today I have been busy printing out project sheets for my classes tomorrow at The Glitter Pot. Apparently both the morning and afternoon classes are full so I will be in for a hectic day!! I will have a day filled with cuttlebugging as in the morning we are making cards using the Cuttlebug and Coredinations cardstock along with some sanding blocks and in the afternoon we will be double embossing using 2 different embossing folders in the Cuttlebug.

I must admit that I don't get the most out of my Cuttlebug ordinarily, as I can go for weeks without using it! So I really enjoyed creating the cards that I made for tomorrow as it made such a nice change for me. There is still lots of stamping involved too though!! I will load up the cards next week sometime for you to see.

In just over a months time I will be back at The Glitter Pot again - this time on a Friday (24th July). I know that there are currently still places available for this so if anyone fancies a day, a morning or an afternoon of crafting you know what to do! Click here for more details.

Meanwhile I must get back to finishing my latest project for Craft Stamper. Can you believe that we are already working on the October issue - it means it won't be long before the Christmas stamps come out to play!!

Stamp Addicts Demo Day - Card 6

As promised here is another of those cards that I made using the Stamps By Judith range for when I was up at Stamp Addicts for their Demo Day.

I know that I have said before how much I like these stamps. I love flowery stamps anyway but these appeal to me so much because you can make different arrangements so easily. I only used the flower pot stamps this time around to stamp them into but of course you can put them into many other receptacles too such as buckets, jars, vases, watering cans etc... Or of course they can just be stamped coming straight out of the ground.

I think that (grudgingly!!) I must agree with Sarah (from Stamp Addicts) that it did me good not having pink and lilac pencils in the tin of Polycolor pencils that she sent me as it did make me use other colours for a change which made me think about different colour schemes both at the time and since.

The background paper that you see on the left of the card is by Daisy Bucket. I just jazzed it up a bit by stamping a couple of stamps onto it to make it tie in more with the main image.

As already mentioned the image was coloured with Polycolor pencils combined with paper stumps and Zest-It blending solution. Prior to this all the flowers and pots were stamped with Graphite Black Brilliance as I have found that StazOn tends to bleed slightly with both the wax from the crayons and the solution whereas Brilliance doesn't providing it has been heat set.

Sunny Flowers

Hopefully by now Jill will have received this card and all the others that I sent along with it so don't forget if you are going to the Doncaster show this weekend to stop by The Stamp Man's stand and see these in real life!!

Citrus Flowers

For this card I chose an orange, lemon and lime theme but in muted shades so that it didn't end up too fierce looking!!

As you have already probably guessed the main image is from the Funky Frames stamp sheet and the words and flourishes are from the Fancy Flourishes sheet. Just like the card I posted up a few days ago I started off with 2 plain pieces of Bazzill cardstock and built up my backgrounds using different flourishes and inkpads. This is such an easy thing to do but looks really effective especially when you use 2 or 3 different sorts of flourishes.

The flowers were coloured with Copics again which I have got to say I just love!! The ink from these markers just glides onto the paper and as I said yesterday you achieve such a nice, clean, fresh look with them - perfect for summer flowers!! Sets of Copic Ciaos can be purchased from The Craft Barn and as you know by now the stamp sheets can be bought from either The Stamp Man or The Craft Barn.

Pastel Funky Flowers

Here is another card that is now on its way to Jill in Yorkshire. For this card I stamped an image from the Funky Flowers stamp sheet and then used the flourishes and wording stamps from the Fancy Flourishes stamp sheet. On the flourish sheet you get absolutely loads of stamps as I wanted a nice range of wording and flourishes and they really mix together very well.

The background panel on the left of the card was done with the Icicle Creek set of Starburst Stains and then I stamped different flourishes and dots over the top once it had dried. The actual card base was stamped and embossed with flourishes along the right-hand edge and then the fine flourish was overstamped with Graphite Black Brilliance. The flourishes that you see in the top left and bottom right corners of the flower panel were stamped with Starlite Black Brilliance. The flowers were coloured with Copics which gave them a nice, fresh, clean look.

Another Card For Jill

Morning Everyone. My sincere thanks to all those who have been commenting recently - I have been receiving some lovely comments and I can't tell you how nice it is so thank you!!

So here is another card that will be winging its way up to Yorkshire. For this card I used one of the flowers off of the Funky Flowers sheet and all the flourishes and wording came from the Fancy Flourish sheet. (To see all the designs on both of these sheets take a look at my sidebar.)

The background of the card started off as 2 plain pieces of Bazzill card that I first stamped and embossed with one of the flourishes using Versamark and Crystal embossing powder then I picked a different flourish and stamped around the edge of the card using Brilliance Starlite Black and lastly picked the fine flourish and stamped around the top left corner and bottom right corner with Brilliance Graphite Black. The wording was stamped with Timber Brown StazOn.

The flower panel was done in the same way as for the last post in that I stamped and coloured my flowers first and then using the fine flourish I stamped and embossed over the whole panel using Versamark and Crystal embossing powder. I picked a more solid flourish to stamp in the top left and bottom right corners of the panel using the Starlite Black inkpad. Crystal glitter glue was then added sparingly to the flower design but once again the scanner hasn't picked up the sparkle.

You'll find as I load more of the cards up that they have all been made in the same way as I wanted to show you why I designed the flourish stamp sheet as I did. I hope you like it!

Pretty In Peach

I know that you have all been eagerly awaiting to see what I have created using my new stamp sheets so I have decided to carry on showing you what I will be sending on up to Jill.

For this one I have made my own backgrounds. The background on the left was made first of all with Mermaid Seashells Starburst Stains and allowed to dry. Then it was trimmed to size and stuck to the left side of a plain Bazzill green panel. Next using stamps from my flourish sheet I first randomly stamped and embossed a flourish all over the panels using Versamark and Crystal embossing powder, then I stamped a different flourish around the top left and bottom right corners of the card using Timber Brown StazOn. I stamped little dots (from the Flourish sheet) onto the Mermaid Seashell panel only, using the same inkpad, stamping 2 or 3 times before re-inking so as to get lighter and darker dots. Then finally using the delicate flourish I stamped this in Brilliance Graphite Black around the edge of the card. The Timber Brown inkpad was then used to ink the edges of the card.

The flowers (from the Funky Flowers stamp sheet) were stamped onto white card with Brilliance Graphite Black and coloured. Once all the colouring had been done I took one of the flourishes (from the Fancy Flourishes stamp sheet) and repeatedly stamped all over the flowers and surrounding white area with Versamark and embossed with Crystal embossing powder. In the top left and bottom right corners of the panel I stamped a different flourish using Brilliance Starlight Black.

Once again you are not getting the effect of both the Crystal glitter glue that I added to the flower panel or the Crystal embossing powder so it does look prettier in real life. As Jill said in her comment under yesterday's post if anyone is attending the Doncaster show next weekend, Jill will have the cards up on display for you to see them in real life.

(By the way I haven't finished showing you all the cards yet that I did for Stamp Addicts and I will continue showing these to you as well inbetween showing these latest cards.)

Mini Dragonfly Card

Good morning. So here is another of those mini cards that will be winging its way to Jill very shortly. The scanned in image has come out darker than it is in real life and again has not picked up the glitter both on the dragonfly and the background. The dragonfly is from the Funky Frames stamp sheet and the wording and flourishes are from the Fancy Flourishes stamp sheet. The background paper is by Basic Grey and I just embellished it using different flourishes and inkpads. The tile behind the dragonfly is made from clear shrink plastic. I stamped into it while it was still hot with one of the flourish stamps to give it texture. The dragonfly was coloured with Coloursoft pencils, Sansador and paper stumps.

Outside my old studio

So here are the last few photos of my studio at our old house. As you can see I had large patio doors in one side of the studio which allowed all the light to flood into my work space but I also had blinds that I could filter the light if I needed to. The inside measured 18'x10' so it was a really nice large area to work in plus it was thoroughly insulated and of course had electricity to it too. The only drawback was that when it rained I used to get wet going out to it! I had plug in radiators so that it was nice and cosy in winter and lots of spotlights in the ceiling to illuminate everywhere. As you can see the squirrel plaque was right outside my patio doors. One good thing I made good use of my workspace while I had it and appreciated it every second!

My Old Place

Well it seems as if you quite liked the look of my studio from our old place, so I thought I'd depress myself even further and show you a couple more pictures of it. Not only was it built and kitted out to my specification but I also had it personalised too. (By the way it was my Dad who built it and fitted it out as he is a builder/carpenter.)

The first picture shows the other end of my studio where the guillotine, die-cutting machine and a few other bits lived. You can see the window that was down that end has been decorated. I wanted to personalise my studio and so decided to paint the window and texturise it as well using glass paints.

The second picture shows the window up close and as you can see I chose a squirrel!! As most of you are already aware (from my sidebar), squirrels have a special place in my heart and as I had a few little grey visitors out in my studio on a regular basis it was only right that their image appeared inside. When we left I had to leave my window which was even harder than leaving the actual studio as this took such a long time to do. Trying to do the squirrel was an absolute nightmare using the black outliner first and then adding colour with the glass paints but I was pleased with the end result. The leaves were a lot easier to do.

Outside my studio door I had a squirrel that was carved out of marble laid into the path which I'll post up later.

Lilac Flutters

I have just completed some cards to send off to Jill (from The Stamp Man) using the new stamp sheets and I just had to share this sweet little card with you that I have just finished. It only measures 10x10cm but I really like making these tiny little cards as they look so sweet in real life.

The butterfly is from the Funky Frames stamp sheet (Don't forget to enter Jill's blog candy to stand a chance of winning this stamp sheet!! The link is on my sidebar.) and the wording and flourishes are from the Fancy Flourishes sheet.

The background is made up of layered stamping of the flourishes along with a strip of Basic Grey background paper and the butterflies were coloured with Coloursoft pencils, Sansador and paper stumps. All the materials are available from The Craft Barn and the stamps are of course available from both The Craft Barn and The Stamp Man. I hope you like it............ I like this one because it incorporates my favourite colour of lilac!! Funnily enough though most of the cards I have done this time I have striven to stay away from this colour as I thought that it would do me good to create some cards in other colours too!!

Time

Oh my goodness!! I cannot believe that we are about half way through this year already. This means that just under 3 months I am going to be celebrating my 40th birthday!! I am sure that I cannot be that old already!!!

Also it means that we have been in our new house now for just over a year!! Where does the time go?? Once upon a time I had a purpose built studio in our back garden of our old house and everything had it's place. Now I am working out of boxes the whole time as we have yet to convert one of the bedrooms into a designated craft room for me. The way things are going it looks like I will be working like this for some time to come!!

The photos are what my studio used to look like in our old place!! I won't depress you and show you a photo of what I am working in now!! As you can see I had loads of drawers, cupboards and shelving in which to house all my goodies. Nowadays I have most of my stuff in clear plastic boxes that are piled on top of one another and quite a few things in cardboard boxes that I don't use quite so much, so most of the time I spend a lot of time hunting around for stuff! Oh for the good old days...................

The Craft Barn's Extravaganza Weekend

I had intended to post much earlier than this today but I have had my nose firmly to the grindstone yet again trying to make a few cards for The Stamp Man with the latest stamps. I think that I must have been very wicked in a past life as there is definitely no rest for me at the moment!!

I am still on a high though from the weekend after hearing all your lovely comments. My thanks again to everyone that came and made it such an enjoyable time. I really do so enjoy meeting everyone. For those of you that came you will know how busy it was on both days so I hope you were able to see everything that you wanted to - I know from experience how frustrating it can be sometimes from when I used to go to these type of events as a customer.

Do you know I was so tired yesterday when I got home that I actually fell asleep on the settee whilst watching tv last night!! It is SO rare for me to do that as I normally won't let myself for fear that I won't sleep at night but yesterday I just couldn't stop myself!

My thanks to Jo who came on Saturday and brought my Mum a little gadget to play with!! I am so sorry that I wasn't able to have a proper chat with you but you know how manic it was. It was lovely to see you though however briefly and Mum says she would love to borrow the gadget again at the next event!!

I purposely didn't take my camera with me at the weekend as I have a really good camera (apparently) on my mobile phone so I thought I would take some photos with this instead. I got the camera operating on my mobile and lined it up in the screen to take a photo of my work table and then couldn't figure out how to take the actual photo!! This is the first mobile phone I have had that I haven't been able to work out how to take photos with as I don't normally bother with reading the manual. For the life of me I could not work out how to actually take the photo and I still don't know now so I am going to have to hunt high and low to find the manual so that I will know for next time!! I had thought that I would take some photos to upload to my blog to show you all what it was like there............................oh well perhaps I can figure it out for next time instead!!

Worn out but really pleased!

Hi Guys. I got home a little while ago now from a very busy weekend and have uploaded your comments - am too tired to respond tonight but will do tomorrow!!

A huge thank you to all those who came to The Craft Barn's Extravaganza Weekend and bought my stamp sheets - they seemed to go down really well and I can't tell you both how pleased and relieved I am that you liked them!!! It really does make all the work worth while. I am not a natural rubber stamp designer (being that I am so limited as to what I can draw) and hearing all your comments over the weekend really gave me such a boost so my sincere thanks to you all.

It seems that you also liked the cards that I spent all week creating so again it made all those frantic hours worth while!! I will get round to uploading some cards from the weekend very soon.

Stamp Addicts Demo Day Card 4

As I write this I am absolutely shattered as I have been working hard all week trying to get my samples done for The Craft Barn's Extravaganza Weekend!! Luckily I have made it and I just hope that everyone likes what I have created with my new stamp range. I will soon find out!!



Meanwhile here is another version of stamping flowers into pots. For variation I have used both the medium and small flowerpots. This time I have stamped the Simple Daisy and the Tall Aster into them and added the Sprig-let as foliage at the top of the pots. All of these are by Stamps By Judith and are available from Stamp Addicts. Don't forget they can't show these images online but they do sell them.

Stamp Addicts Demo Day Card 3

You'll never guess what?? I have now got some cards together using my new stamps and what's more I didn't struggle with them either!! I think this is the first time ever when I haven't had to think and re-think when using my own stamps for the first time! So Dawn (All Pink Girl) I think your advice must have worked about pretending they were someone elses!! I will load the cards up onto my blog at some point but for now I will continue with the ones that I made for Stamp Addicts.

I have got to say that I seem to be on a bit of a roll at the moment (which won't last!!) as all the Stamp Addicts cards came together easily for me as well. Mind you I really love the interactive flower stamps by Stamps By Judith - I just don't think you can go wrong with them.

For this card I stamped the medium flower pot 3 times and masked the top of the pots just with a straight edge of a piece of scrap paper. This then enabled me to stamp all my flowers into the pots. You'll notice that I also stamped some shrubbery bits in the pots too which helps it to look more natural. All the colouring was done with the Polycolor pencils (which I LOVE) and the Zest It blending solution. These pencils are so easy to work with and blend together really well. I most definitely need a large set of these at some point!!

Stamp Addicts Demo Day Card 2

Morning Guys. Here is another card using that same Large Design Square but this time with different flowers stamped into it. The technique used for this card is exactly the same as the one I posted yesterday and the flowers were coloured using the Polycolor pencils and Zest-It blending solution.

The green background paper is by Daisy Bucket and I can't remember who the blue one is by but they are both available from Stamp Addicts. You'll notice that I stamped some imagery onto these papers using either the Dotty Swirl by Denami or the Mince Flourish by Judikins. The Dotty Swirl was stamped with Brilliance Starlite Black which is a very soft black with a shimmer to it and the flourish was stamped with Brilliance Graphite Black.

Stamp Addicts Demo Day Card 1

So finally here is one of the cards from last Saturday. I stamped the large design square 3 times onto white card then stamped it again onto scrap paper. Using a craft knife I cut out the square following the inside line to create a reverse mask - imagine a square aperture in a piece of paper. This was then placed over each stamped square in turn so that I could stamp the flowers within the squares. As I knew I would be colouring the flowers with the Polycolor pencils and Zest It blending solution combined with paper/blending stumps, I did all my stamping with Graphite Black Brilliance as I have found that StazOn tends to bleed slightly when you add the blending solution. If you click on the image you should be able to see that I also very lightly stamped some green dots into the squares as well just to take away the starkness of the background. I stamped the background papers (Daisy Bucket) with a Judikins flourish stamp using the Graphite Black Brilliance inkpad too.

Back Home!

Morning everyone. I am now back at home safe and sound albeit a little tired! My thanks to everyone who has left me some lovely comments in my absence! I have now had chance to read them all and to upload them so thank you so much.


I've had a really nice couple of days as it had been a while since I had been to Bedford. Thanks to everyone who booked onto the class on Friday - it was really nice to catch up with you all and I really appreciate it you coming to the workshop especially when you have to book time off work to attend or travel a fair distance. I just hope that you felt it was worth it!!

It was lovely to see so many friendly faces on the Saturday as well. I really like demoing and I had such nice feeback from you all which makes all the preparation worth while.

Rita - it was a pleasure to meet both you and your husband. I was so pleased that you were able to make it. What a lovely husband you have got to sacrifice some of the football for you!

Kym - if there is a next time please introduce yourself as it would have been nice to have met you properly!

Thankfully I had a good journey home and did it in about two and a half hours - totally different story on the way up though as it took me four hours to get there. Luckily there were no major road accidents this time - it just seemed to be sheer volume of traffic. I will begin loading up some of the demo cards this week for you all to see. (Poor Sharon forgot her camera didn't you?!!)

Stamp Addicts Demo Day

Finally I have actually begun playing around with my own stamps which is about time too really as I am supposed to be demoing with them next weekend at The Craft Barn's Extravaganza Weekend!! Once I have got some cards together I will begin posting some up but meanwhile today I will be busy demoing at Stamp Addicts so if you are free do come along and say hello as it would be great to see you!

The 2nd Workshop Card

So here is the other card we will be making today and as you can see a hint of brown crept into this card too. I quite like wearing pink and brown together but had never done this colour scheme before on a card but I think it worked out quite well! (The only trouble is the brown colour reminds me of chocolate and I keep wanting to rush for the Cadbury's Dairy Milk!)

The main image stamps that you see here are all off of the same Judikins stamp set and the papers are by Denami. I stamped and embossed another Judikins stamp (Mince Flourish) to create the background on the pale pink panel and then simply added some punched out flowers from scrap pieces of paper and card to embellish the card further.

This is the 'girl' that is most like me from this particular stamp range as I just LOVE to shop!

Stamp Addicts Workshop

So tomorrow I will be off up to see the Stamp Addicts girls. I am just keeping everything crossed that the weather will be nice and that I don't encounter any major hold ups. Every time I have driven up to Bedford I have been snarled up in traffic so it would make a really pleasant change if it could just go smoothly this time!

This is one of the cards that I have designed for the workshop. I thought it would be nice to use the new girl stamps and although this is a congratulations card for someone who has done well at school/college it can easily be turned into something else by replacing the books with a different image and altering the wording.

Yet another different colour scheme for me too! I don't often incorporate brown into my cards but I thought that it went quite well with my favourite colour of lilac!

As you can probably guess all of the products that you see on the card can be bought from Stamp Addicts - the strips of paper you can see is from a 12x12 sheet by Denami.

The Last Of The Penny Black cards!

Morning Guys. I get the impression from your comments yesterday that you all think I'm a little bit mad!! Well what can I say apart from sometimes needs must! I don't normally take my crafting out and about with me but I just couldn't bear the fact that I would be wasting valuable time. Anyway I got all the cutting out done that I took with me to do so I was quite pleased with that. (If I got any strange looks from anyone I didn't notice as I was too busy with my head down cutting away!!) My hair is now chopped and judging by the amount that was on the floor it is a wonder I have any left - it definitely isn't thick and heavy any more!

Anyway onto the very last of those Penny Black cards. I have saved my favourite to last!! I think that I like this one the best because it is in my favourite colour scheme as well as having my favourite Penny Black flower stamp (of the moment) on it. Also I went back to stamping my own backgrounds for this card with just an odd strip here and there of a MME background paper.

The flowers and the shrink plastic butterfly were coloured with the Coloursoft pencils and Sansador. The butterfly is from the Stampendous Flutterfly Friends clear set and all the other stamps you see on the card are by Penny Black. I hope you like it!

Hairdressers

So this morning I am off to get my hair cut which is just as well as it won't do anything that I want it to at the moment as it has got too long and thick. Believe me if I owned a pair of thinning scissors I think I would have had a go at sorting it out myself as it has been driving me nuts!

Because I am busy, busy, busy at the moment and can't really afford the time to go to the hairdressers, yesterday afternoon I spent my time colouring in some images so that I can take them with me today and sit in my hairdresser's chair and cut them all out!! I would've taken some colouring to do too but there isn't room there for me to find somewhere to put all my pens and pencils and there's definitely no room for me to assemble a few cards either!!

Internet Explorer Is Driving Me Crazy!!

Thank goodness there are other internet based programmes out there because at the moment me and Internet Explorer are most definitely not friends!! Nearly every time I try and use it, it decides to shut down on me - hence my post being rather late today!

And it is yet another shrink plastic card - see I was a very busy bunny!! All stamps on this one are by Penny Black and the papers are by My Minds Eye. Again not my normal colour scheme but this one reminds me of autumn because of the reds, greens and oranges.

Meanwhile I hope that everyone out there is having more luck than me at the moment with surfing the internet. Everything was fine until I downloaded Internet Explorer 8 - that was my downfall I think!

And Some More Penny Black!

As you will have probably gathered by now I ended up doing quite a few cards for that Glitter Pot demo day as here is yet another one from that weekend. The flowers were stamped onto shrink plastic, coloured with the Coloursoft pencils and shrunk down. The stripey paper is by Daisy Bucket. More my normal type of colour scheme this time too!

Mini Flowers

Apparently it is a lovely bright and warm day out there this morning,here on the south east coast. However I wouldn't know much about that as I have lots to do (yet again!) over the next few days.

I have finished the cards for my workshop at Stamp Addicts but am still working on some sample cards for their demo day. Sarah kindly sent me some new colouring pencils to play with and they are really nice. The only thing I have against them at the moment is that the colours are a bit limited as there is no purple, lilac, pale pinks, or aqua colours!!! This most definitely needs sorting out I think!! The colours that are in the set though blend beautifully and glide onto the paper. I will load up some samples using them once I've completed a few.


Meanwhile the card today is one that I did for The Glitter Pot's demo day using those Penny Black stamps. This particular flower stamp is most definitely my favourite at the moment along of course with that background stamp. The flowers were stamped onto the frosted side of the shrink plastic and coloured with Coloursoft pencils before shrinking it down. The papers (which I am sure you must recognise by now!) are by My Minds Eye. All available from The Glitter Pot.

And More Penny Black

Here's another card usinng Penny Black flowers and frosted shrink plastic. The shrink plastic was shrunk first then the flowers were stamped using Brilliance Starlight black to keep it 'soft' looking. Colouring was done with Coloursoft pencils, Sansador and paper stumps. Papers are by My Minds Eye and all stamps are by Penny Black.

Doesn't Time Fly??

I can't believe how quickly we are getting through this year and am astonished to think that a week tomorrow I will be heading up the motorway for my workshop at Stamp Addicts. (Originally when we arranged it - the end of May seemed so far away and now it is almost here!)


Anyway in honour of my forthcoming trip to Stamp Addicts I thought I'd take the opportunity of loading up a card we did on one of my previous workshops up there. The flower stamps were stamped with a pigment inkpad and embossed with Sticky embossing powder and then gold leaf was applied over the top. As well as the Sticky embossing powder holding gold leaf it will also take foil and glitter too. The flowers were from a Printworks set, the wording from a Denami set of 3 wording stamps and the background is one of my favourite flourish stamps called Mince Flourish by Judikins. All of which you can get from Stamp Addicts.

Over the weekend I will be putting the finishing touches to the cards that we'll be doing for this coming workshop so look out for these either next week or the week after!

Torture!!

Morning and what a lovely sunny and warm morning it is too!! I feel that I should be outside not stuck indoors with yet more deadlines soon coming my way!

The other day I spent all afternoon colouring the index sheets of the new stamp sheets to send to Jill. I can't believe that it literally did take me all afternoon! I would get so far with one of the print outs and then do something that I didn't like and have to start again!! I have added the finished sheets now to my sidebar for a little while so that you can see them - once I get bored with them I'll take them off! Meanwhile I have still yet to actually play with the stamps. I have got so far as to stamping out some images and that is it!! I now have got to put them to one side and start preparing for my visit up to Stamp Addicts next weekend. So I am sure that those of you who have already got your stamp sheets will be making cards before me!

A Buzzy Bee

Here's the second card that we made in the afternoon class on Saturday. It is a really sweet little card, as like the one I showed you the other day it is only 10x10cm once folded. I've used the same Penny Black background stamp that you have been seeing for several days now and the bee and wording is from that Stampendous Flutterfly Friends clear stamp set. You can't tell from this photo but behind the bee is a piece of clear shrink plastic that I stamped with the background stamp with white StazOn and then stuck to dark green card. The papers are by My Minds Eye.

Pink and Green Dragonflies

Morning. Here is a picture of the card that we made on Saturday afternoon at The Glitter Pot. Behind each of the dragonflies there is a textured piece of clear shrink plastic that is achieved using the intaglio technique. (Can't tell you anything more on how to do it, for now, as it isn't fair to those that booked on the class. However I will be doing a feature on this technique in the October issue of Craft Stamper so keep a look out for that to learn more.)

The papers are by My Minds Eye, the dragonflies you will probably recognise as I have used them before - they are from the Stampendous Flutterfly Friends clear stamp set and the wording and background stamp are by Penny Black. Everything can be purchased from The Glitter Pot.

So tired!!

Morning everyone - well it is just about still morning as I begin typing this! I am SO tired this morning that it is taking me forever to do things. Yesterday's classes were really quite hectic as they were both full as well as being fairly challenging. I think that everyone really liked the technique that we covered in the afternoon class using the clear shrink plastic. (I'll post that card up tomorrow for you to see.)

Meanwhile here is the second smaller card from the morning class - no-one actually got to make this card although several people did make a start on it and went away with the components to finish it at home. Latest Magazine Projects

Morning everyone. Just thought I'd take the opportunity to let you know that I have some projects out at the moment in a couple of magazines.

The first is in the June issue of Craft Stamper using one of my oriental stamp sets called Japanese Dragonfly Dreams. The cards I created for this magazine were more manly than my usual style using the oriental dragonflies along with gold leaf. For this project I made my own background papers using some of the background stamps from this particular stamp sheet along with some Distress inkpads and a Starburst Stain dauber. All of which can be purchased from The Stamp Man.

The second one is in the current issue of Papercraft Inspirations (which I personally haven't seen yet!) using the sets of English Countryside Art Impression stamps. F0r anyone that hasn't come across the Art Impression range of stamps, they are the most truly interactive scenic stamps. I just LOVE these stamps. Unfortunately I don't get an awful lot of time now to play with them but they appeal to me so much because they allow you to create so many different scenes and layouts using the same stamp combination. They are great for those of us who like to be able to get the most out of our stamps. To see the range click here and this will take you to Sir Stampalots website.

Shrink Plastic Class

Tomorrow I am at The Glitter Pot all day teaching classes on shrink plastic which is definitely one of my favourite mediums to work with. When I first started using shrink plastic (many years ago!!) I couldn't get on with it at all. It wasn't until I tried using a different heat gun (the white one that looks like a hairdryer) that it all came together for me and I haven't looked back since. I still don't get on very well using the long heat guns with the plastic as I find that they are too fierce.

Anyway I am digressing! The card I've posted up today is one that we will be making in the morning using Penny Black flowers and that Penny Black background stamp (that I keep using on all my cards). The little shrunken bees in the punched out flowers are from the Flutterfly Friends stamp set by Stampendous. The stripey background paper is by Daisy Bucket and the leaves are by My Minds Eye. All of these things are available from The Glitter Pot.

Guess What Came Today?

My wait is over as this morning my stamp sheets arrived from The Stamp Man. Yippeee!!!! So this means that they have now got them in stock!

No prizes for guessing what I will be doing later on today - providing I get time that is!

Fingers crossed that my mind doesn't shut down once I start working with them. If anyone else purchases any of these sheets and makes a card please let me know as I would love to see what you come up with.

I am fairly certain that the background papers are all by My Minds Eye and the rest was stamped using the Penny Black Srolling Along background stamp which I just LOVE! I don't normally put blue and green together but I think it turned out quite well.

More Penny Black Flowers

Morning everyone. Well the stamp sheets didn't make it in time for the Port Sunlight show but hopefully it won't be too much longer and then Jill will pop them up on The Stamp Man's website for you to see.

Meanwhile just to prove that I have been making cards here is one of the cards that I was able to take with me the other weekend to The Glitter Pot's demo weekend. All the stamps are by Penny Black and the background papers are by My Minds Eye. The green panel at the top of the card was stamped with the Penny Black Scrolling Along stamp in both Versamark Dazzle and Brilliance Starlite Black. The Starlite Black is a soft black so isn't so harsh - I used this same inkpad to stamp in the corners of the flower panel too. A bit of a different colour scheme for me as I normally go for cool colours so I hope you like it!

Classes

Morning everyone. Well at last I can breathe again! I am glad to announce that finally I was able to use that cover mount stamp in a way that I was satisfied with! (I just don't know what it is with me and my own designs. I don't get this problem with other stamps - just mine!) So I just have the text to do for these now and they can be sent on their merry way.

Next Saturday I am teaching all day at The Glitter Pot - the cards for this are already done, I just need to get on with typing up some project sheets which I will probably do today. These classes are full up but I am back at The Glitter Pot again on Sat 20th June if anyone is interested. In the morning we will be combining stamping along with some backgrounds created with cuttlebug embossing folders and core-dinations cardstock and in the afternoon I will be showing how to double emboss in two different ways using cuttlebug embossing folders combined with some stamped foreground images. Port Sunlight

Well tomorrow it is the Port Sunlight show and both Jill and I are keeping everything crossed right now as we are hoping that the new stamp sheets will arrive tomorrow at the show! This will mean that anyone who attends the show will get to see the finished rubber before I do! Because of the show Jill won't be able to post my sheets to me until Monday at the earliest so someone could be playing with my new designs before me!! Anyway if the sheets do make it in time and any of you out there see them do let me know what you think. Meanwhile just incase the sheets don't turn up Jill and I have been working on a little surprise for you.................I won't tell you what it is - you'll just have to stop by The Stamp Man stand and see!

Well what a manic time I have been having recently! For the last few days I couldn't tell you what the weather has been doing as my eyes have been permanently glued to my work table and I've only just about managed to eat and sleep inbetween. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to my editor who I think has saved my sanity! With a lot of focus and hours I had managed to get my main magazine project done - just! However I am supposed to be creating a few things for this particular issue with the cover mount stamp that I'd designed and to be honest I absolutely hated what I had done with it but I had run out of time to do anything about it. Katy has been an absolute star though and has given me today and the weekend to sort it out. You would think that working with my own design would be a walk in the park wouldn't you? But for some reason every time I work with a stamp that I have designed my mind just completely shuts down and I just can't create anything nice with it until I have just about exhausted every possibility! (What a great designer I am?!!) With 3 new stamp sheets about to come out aren't I going to have fun???

Ok back to that dratted cover mount stamp...........

Chasing My Tail.......Still!!

Morning everyone. Well after having to do extra work for the Glitter Pot demo day it has had a knock on effect and I am now desperately trying to get a magazine project completed and it seems that the cards are fighting me all the way - don't they understand that time is precious and that really they should have been sent off a few days ago???

Anyway once things are more under control here I will load up another card. I just don't have the time at the moment - sorry!!

Flutterfly Friends

Oh dear!! I had meant to post much earlier than this but I am still trying to play catch up!

This card is one of my Glitter Pot demo ones using clear shrink plastic behind each of the butterflies. The butterflies and bees are off of the same clear stamp sheet by Stampendous called Flutterfly Friends and the swirly background stamp is by Penny Black. Glitter Pot Demo

Hi guys. First of all a big thank you to everyone who took the time and trouble to comment on yesterday's post - I do appreciate it and am glad that you like the look of the new designs!

Well today I thought it was about time I stopped boring you all with talk of the forthcoming stamp sheets and have loaded up a card that I did for the Glitter Pot Demo Weekend. This was another one that I ended up not taking with me due to that Bo Bunny paper at the base of the card!

I really enjoyed myself on Saturday as I do love demoing and sharing my passion with everyone. I have most definitely missed demoing at the shows so far this year.

The flower and background stamps are by Penny Black and the bee has been stamped, coloured and shrunk on frosted shrink plastic and is from the Stampendous clear set of Flutterfly Friends. All the colouring was done with Coloursoft pencils, paper stumps and Sansador. I really like this method of colouring as you can get the colours to blend together seamlessly so well with very little effort. Anyway I hope you like it!!

All the materials used (apart from the Bo Bunny paper!) are available from The Glitter Pot.

Another Peek

Hi guys. I'm a bit later posting today as I had quite a bit to catch up on after being out all day yesterday.

I have actually finished the 3rd stamp sheet now so this is the bit I find the hardest as I then can't wait for them to be made into rubber!

A Little Taster!!

At Last!! A Card!!

Hi guys. Just to prove that I have actually been working this week on making cards as well as the stamp sheets, here is one of the cards that I had made for The Glitter Pot but won't be taking with me tomorrow due to one of the papers being discontinued!

I hope you like it! The stamps I have used are all by Penny Black and are currently in stock although I don't know if they will be by the end of tomorrow! The paper on the left has been discontinued but was by Bo Bunny and the one on the right is by My Minds Eye. The type of shrink plastic that I used is 'frosted' which is pre-sanded one side and clear on the other.
