Finally...

Well after talking about it for ages I have at long last sorted out those Glitter Pot cards and here is the first one! This is one of the cards we made in the morning class using a Magenta flower stamp which was coloured using dye-based inkpads.

Tall Leafy Tree

I am going to try and find some time this afternoon to finally sort out those Glitter Pot cards but meanwhile here's another of those Stevenage cards this time using the other leafy tree design.

As you can see with a bit of careful manouvering you can actually stamp the tree three times to fit inside the circular frame. (I must confess that I did use a stamp positioner to do this!) The frame trees, wording and background holly were all stamped using Brilliance Starlite Black and the snowflakes were stamped using Versamark - I think I may have embossed them but it has been so long now that I can remember!! If I did then it was with clear powder. The trees were coloured using a pink Sakura Stardust pen.

Stamp used:
Denami Design
G143 Christmas Holly Vine
D115 Small Narrow Leafy Tree
J122 Demi Double Circle
D98 Sparkles
E112 Small Starburst

All stamps and materials used on this card are available from Stamp Addicts.

Skiing Chickie

Here is one of those cute little chick stamps from Denami Design. This stamp is only little so in order to make him be the main focal point I simply did a lot of layering!! I started off by stamping the bigger circle dot frame and the smaller circle dot frame onto separate pieces of white card using a red inkpad. I stamped the chick into the smaller dot frame using the Starlite Black Brilliance and then coloured him using Polycolor pencils and Sakura Stardust pens. Each of the circles was cut out using my Nestabilities die and then layered to scallop circles also cut from a Nestabilities die. The chick circle was then stuck centrally to the larger one. A white opaque pen was used to add dots to the scalloped red circle.

The background to the card was then stamped using Versamark, grey and black inkpads.

Round Leafy Trees

Oh dear!! I still haven't sorted out those Glitter Pot cards yet! I'll endeavour to do it over the weekend sometime.

Meanwhile here is another of those cards I made for Stevenage using the new Denami stamps. This tree reminds me of the trees that you normally see at Christmas time with a partridge in it but minus the partridge obviously!!

The trees were stamped in gold and embossed with Gold Twinkle embossing powder and coloured using the Sakura Stardust pens.

The black panel was stamped using the Large Dot Swirls and White StazOn then overstamped in the top left corner using a gold pigment inkpad. The white card was stamped using the gold pigment inkpad and then overstamped in the bottom right corner using Brilliance Graphite Black.

A very simple card this one.

AWOL!!

Morning everyone. Yesterday for the first time in ages (about 4 months actually) I went shopping with my Mum to Eastbourne. We used to go quite regularly together - maybe once or twice a month - but because I have been so busy recently we hadn't been for ages, so yesterday we finally made it! I had promised Mum that we would go shopping together as it is her birthday the day after mine and so we both needed to go present shopping!! We spent the whole day over at Eastbourne and came home thoroughly exhausted! I really did not want to get up this morning at all!! Still we both managed to buy things and neither of us will have long to wait to open them up.

I cannot believe how much Eastbourne had changed since we had last been over there. Both of us like to shop in Principles and so we made our way to the Principles part of Debenhams only to find that it was no longer there! Then upon going to the Principles shop in the Arndale Centre we discovered just a few racks of clothing with a Closing Down notice! We both vowed that shopping will never be the same again now!! Another favourite clothes shop of mine had completely disappeared and several other shops had closed down too. So when you see me dressed in rags you will understand why!!!

Anyway no more time off for me from work. I have lots to do and so need to really get beavering away.

While I was over Eastbourne I looked to see if Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer is out in paperback yet but I didn't come across it. Does anyone know when it is due out? I saw the hard cover version but I have the others in paperback and so would prefer to wait until Breaking Dawn is out in paperback too. The other day I finished reading New Moon (the second book in the Twilight series) which was really good. Stephanie has this knack of making you want to keep reading - I just love books like this. I found the same thing with all the Harry Potter books too - I just didn't want to put them down and had to be VERY disciplined!! I am now being good and actually reading an adult book but after I've finished it I will probably treat myself to reading the third book in the Twilight series - Eclipse. Infact since going to see the latest Harry Potter film I have got the urge to re-read all those books too!! What can I say??? Obviously I am a big kid at heart!!

Anyway I had better go and do some work......

Mimi's Christmas Eve

Haven't as yet had chance to scan in those Glitter Pot cards so here is another card from when I was demoing at Stevenage. This time Mimi is done up in her Christmas outfit! Again the image has been coloured using Polycolor pencils along with the Zest It blending solution and then Sakura Stardust pens were added here and there to give some sparkle. These pens are great for adding shimmer to anything that you have already coloured or of course they can be used just on their own.

The pink patterned paper on the left of the card is by Denami and the black card has been stamped using white StazOn using a snowflake stamp and the Large Dot Swirls.

Stamps used:
Denami Design
M70 Mimi's Christmas Eve
F181 Classic Season's Greetings
E112 Small Starburst
M65 Large Dot Swirls

All these stamps and products can be purchased from Stamp Addicts.

A Day Out!!

Well as always my classes at The Glitter Pot ran over on Saturday! This was actually my last Saturday class for this year at The Glitter Pot - I am back there before the end of the year but just not on a Saturday. (My next Saturday class is actually at The Craft Barn on the 19th September which is the Saturday after their Extravaganza Weekend.)

Talking of which yesterday I decided to go on a little jaunt to The Craft Barn! There were a whole host of things that I wanted to get from there and it would have been a big box to send to me so as the weather was nice I decided to go in person. I won't tell you how much I spent but it was a lot!!

I have been wanting to have a play around with the Ten Seconds Studio stuff and The Craft Barn stock a really good selection of this. I came away with several different colours of metal sheets, the two different sorts of mats to work on using the metal, a large paper stump and the basic kit of tools. I am really looking forward to having a play around with this stuff - I have seen some of the wonderful effects that Linda Brown has created with it and am eager to have a go at it myself although I am hoping to use it in a different way. I just need to find some time to play with it now and as you already know I don't get much of that!!

Of course I didn't just come away with that!! I also bought the last set of Copic Ciaos that I was lacking in so I now have the complete set of 144 colours! I also bought one of Isabelle Norris's new stamp sheets - the flower one, and am eagerly waiting to find some time to try them out. These designs remind me very much of the Art Impressions watercolour stamps which I am a great fan of and so when I saw this sheet of stamps there was no doubt in my mind that I had to have them!

I had also been wanting some of the new light Alcohol inks to play with too and so now that I have got the metal sheets I just had to buy some of these as of course they will dry onto metal. Then I am a sucker for tiny embellishments of rhinestones, nailheads etc... so a few of these fell into my basket along with some beautiful background papers all of which I can't wait to start using!! Oh to have some time to play...............

At The Glitter Pot!!

Morning everyone. Today I am at The Glitter Pot all day teaching so no doubt I will be heading straight to the settee when I get in!!

For those of you who live anywhere near Bedford I thought I would let you know that I will be at Stamp Addicts again on the 16th October which is a Friday. I am due to take a class there from 3-5pm which I think is Christmas based so if any of you out there feel like coming along you will be more than welcome. Also if any of you have anything in particular that you would like me to do for the class let me know as I may be able to work it in!! On the 17th October Stamp Addicts are holding a Demo Day which I will be attending so again if any of you fancy coming along to this it will be lovely to see you! No idea as yet what I will be doing but I am hoping that perhaps Sarah will let me continue working with those new Denami Christmas stamps!!

I'll see about posting up the Glitter Pot Class cards sometime this coming week for you all to see!!

By the way please ignore that it says Friday at the top of this post - it is actually Saturday. I wrote this last night so I could just post it up this morning and for some unknown reason I cannot change the date on it to todays date (Saturday 22nd August)!!

Mimi's Christmas Tree

Here's another Christmas image from the Denami Mimi collection - this time of Mimi decorating her Christmas Tree. I didn't want to go for the normal Christmas colours for this card so went for a muted background in order for the focus to be on the main image. Mimi was stamped using Starlite Black Brilliance and coloured using Polycolor pencils and Zest It blending solution. Shimmer was added to the image afterwards using the Sakura Stardust pens and a water brush.

All stamps used on this card are by Denami and can be bought from Stamp Addicts as too can the Polycolor pencils and Sakura Stardust pens.

Carollers

This Denami stamp of Mimi with her caroller friends proved to be very popular at Stevenage. Somehow it seems to be both traditional and modern so appeals to both tastes!

Both the carollers and the music notes were stamped with Starlite Black Brilliance and then the image was coloured in first using Polycolor pencils along with Zest It blending solution and paper stumps and then subtle sparkle (which the scanner didn't pick up) was added over the top using Sakura Stardust pens. The clear Stardust pen was used to colour the books that the girls are holding and prisma glitter was added to the fur trim with the use of a bullet tipped glue pen.

The Denami Large Dot Swirls was stamped randomly on the black panel using White StazOn and one swirl was stamped in the bottom right corner of the light grey panel using Starlite Black Brilliance. The wording on the black panel was stamped over the white swirls using that same white inkpad.

Stamps used:
Denami Design
A90 Mini Music Notes
M71 Christmas Carollers
M65 Large Dot Swirls
F181 Classic Season's Greetings

By the way it turns out that I can no longer have the type of chocolate I adore as I am allergic to dairy products as well as some other stuff. To say that I am not impressed is an understatement!! Somehow plain chocolate just doesn't do it for me as I love the creamy taste of milk chocolate so I am off now to go and order some dairy free milk chocolate which isn't anywhere near the same as Cadbury's Dairy Milk but at least it is still chocolate!!! (Not that I am obsessed with chocolate you understand!!!!!!!!)

Red Poinsettias

Here's another Christmas card using the new Denami poinsettia stamp. This was stamped and embossed 3 times using a gold pigment inkpad and Gold Twinkle embossing powder and watercoloured using Sakura Stardust pens and a water brush.

On the white card behind I randomly stamped and embossed a holly flourish stamp using Versamark and Crystal embossing powder and on the black panel I randomly stamped the dotty swirl using white StazOn and then stamped it along the base of the poinsettia panel and in the bottom right corner of the card using Graphite Black Brilliance.

Stamps used:
Denami Design
G143 Christmas Holly Vine
G144 Single Poinsettia
M65 Large Dot Swirls

All stamps and products are from Stamp Addicts.

Blog Candy

Oops I had fully intended to post this up yesterday but the day just seemed to run away with me and in the end I never got the chance!! As you can see from the photo Jill (from The Stamp Man is offering up some more blog candy to one lucky UK resident so hop on over to The Stamp Man's blog to find out more! I can most definitely recommend the Starburst Stains for anyone that loves shimmery things as these are gorgeous.

****************

I had one of those days yesterday that just wouldn't go right! I was working on my latest contribution for Craft Stamper and no matter how many times I coloured my images they looked awful!! Later on in the day I tried changed colouring mediums and thankfully they looked a lot better so I'm hoping that today I am back on track again!

A little while ago I found out that I was allergic to a few different foods through having a Vega Test so for the last few months I have been cutting these particular food groups out of my diet. However I am still having trouble so this morning I am going back to be re-tested. You are no doubt wondering why I am telling you this and it is only because if I find out that I am allergic to chocolate I well may have to kill myself so if this ends up being my last post you will know why!!! Wish me luck..................

Frosty Tree

There is very little colouring to this card which really cuts down the time of making it!! The tree was stamped in Starlite Black Brilliance and coloured with a silver Sakura Stardust pen. Crystal glitter glue was scribbled underneath the tree to resemble glistening snow.

The pale bluey/grey panel was stamped and embossed using a snowflake stamp, Versamark and clear embossing powder and the lilac panel was stamped with Versamark using the Round Leafy Tree and left to air dry. The swirl and wording were stamped afterwards using Graphite Black Brilliance. A piece of acetate, that I had cut to the same size as the card, was randomly stamped using Lilac StazOn and the dotty swirl and attached to the main card using pieces of double sided tape positioned behind the tree panel.

Denami Design

Sledding Chickies

Here's another sweet little card - this one measures 10x10cm. For the background of this card I stamped the black panel with the Large Dot Swirl using White StazOn and for the blue panel I stamped the little snowflakes using Versamark and then overstamped the Large Dot Swirl using a black inkpad.

Now for the centre piece I must confess that I did try several times to do this by eye but it just didn't work so in the end I had to get my stamp positioner out! I started off by stamping the Merry Christmas circle with Brilliance Pearlescent Sky Blue, then with the aid of the stamp positioner I stamped the smaller dot circle using Brilliance Pearlescent Orchid. This was then punched out using a 2 1/2" punch. Because I then wanted some depth to the card I stamped the chicks onto a separate piece of card using the Starlite Black Brilliance (a shimmery dark grey inkpad), coloured them using the Polycolor pencils and Sakura Stardust pens, cut them out and mounted them with foam pads.

Although you can't tell from this picture, metallic silver curling ribbon and gemstones helped to lift the card along with some prisma glitter on the chicks' hats.

Stamps used:
Denami Design
J125 Merry Christmas Circle
D104 Sledding Chickies
D98 Sparkles (Snowflake)
E114 Small Dot Circle Frame
M65 Large Dot Swirls

All of these stamps and products can be obtained from Stamp Addicts.

Christmas Chicks

More of these super cute little chicks today. These three are all separate little stamps. I started by stamping the circle dot frame first using Pearlescent Sky Blue and Orchid Brilliance inkpads and then stamped each of the little guys into the frames using Brilliance Starlight Black which is more of a dark grey with a slight shimmer to it. I then punched them out using a 1 1/2" circle punch and layered them to some scalloped circles which I had already cut using my Large Scallop Circle Nestabilities.

For the light blue panel I stamped and embossed the Starbursts using Versamark ink and clear embossing powder and for the darker blue panel I randomly stamped the Large Dot Swirl using Graphite Black Brilliance. The wording was stamped onto a scrap of the same light blue card - cut into individual words and edged with the black inkpad.

The colouring of the chicks was done using first of all Polycolor pencils and a Splender pencil to polish away the pencil lines and then glittery Sakura Stardust pens were used to create some subtle sparkle. To make the fur on their hats sparkle I used a glue pen and fine prisma glitter.

Cheeky Chicks

Good morning. This is a really dinky little card that I created for Stevenage due to the chick stamp not being very big!! Sometimes though little cards can be nicer than the big ones and at Christmas time it won't take up too much room!!

The size of the card is a folded A6 card cut in half - so I am guessing that it is roughly an ATC size card. Personally I think it is quite sweet!

The chicks, snowflake and dotty swirl are all by Denami Design and the Let It Snow wording is by Printworks - all obtainable from Stamp Addicts.

The chicks were coloured using Polycolor pencils and a Splender pencil (which polishes away the pencil marks) and then Sakura Stardust pens were added here and there over the top to create some sparkle. Crystal glitter glue was simply scribbled under the chicks to create snow. All of which again can be bought from Stamp Addicts.

Frosty trees

Yes I know that it is still a good few months before Christmas is upon us but as I have had to be making Christmas cards I thought I would share them with you!!

This is another card that I made for the Stevenage show using the latest Christmas stamps by Denami. It is a very simple card to make this one and quite quick too because not much colouring in is needed.

The tree was stamped using Brilliance Starlight Black and coloured with a Sakura Silver Stardust pen. Crystal glitter glue was then scribbled under the trees to create snow. On the smaller purple panel I used the same tree again and simply stamped and embossed it several times using Versamark and clear embossing powder and for the bigger lilac background panel I used the Merry Christmas circle and a snowflake stamp which again was stamped and embossed using the same pad and powder.

Denami stamps used:
F182 Round Leafy Tree
J125 Merry Christmas Circle
E112 Small Starburst

All stamps and products (including the silver ribbon) are available from Stamp Addicts.

Mrs Christmas Mimi

Here is another one of those new Mimi Christmas stamps by Denami - this time with Mimi decked out in her Christmas suit. The dotty swirls that you can see stamped in the background, the wording and the stamped snowflakes are also by Denami.

The image was coloured using Polycolor pencils and blended using Zest It blending solution. Although you can't see it from the scanned in picture, subtle sparkle was also added to the colouring with the use of Sakura Stardust pens.

All of the stamps and products for this card can be bought from Stamp Addicts.

**********

Yesterday was a very rare day for me as I actually had the whole day off from crafting!! In the afternoon I took my Auntie to see the new Harry Potter film - we both absolutely LOVE the Harry Potter books so of course seeing the films when they hit the big screen is absolutely essential. Although the film is very good and cleverly made I still think the books are SO much better. For me the later films don't go into enough detail but then I realise that to do that they would probably have to be double the length that they are now which I suppose isn't that practical!! I had heard originally that they were going to split the last book and make it into two films which I am really hoping they do - does anyone out there know if this is still the case?

More Penny Black Stickers

Good morning. I had meant to post yesterday but I didn't get home until 8.30pm last night and after having got up at 5.30am that morning I just collapsed in a heap on the settee and didn't move!! (Oh the glamorous life of a demonstrator!!)

My thanks to everyone who stopped by my table at Stevenage yesterday - chatting with you all is really nice and getting positive feedback ;)

Before I start loading up some more of those Denami Christmas cards that I was demoing yesterday, here is the other quick card we made using the Penny Black Garden Poems stickers. This time I stuck the flower sticker onto a piece of white card and trimmed around to give it a white border before mounting it onto some layered My Minds Eye papers. (The Penny Black Scrolling Along and Best Wishes stamps were stamped in Brilliance Graphite Black rather than the Timber Brown StazOn that I used for the other card, due to the embellishment of the black ribbon.) This was a really nice class to do as the ladies then had fun making up their own quick variations using the rest of the stickers on the sheets.

A Sneak Peek For Tomorrow

Well after making Christmas cards on the hottest day for three years I thought I would give you a little peek of what I have been creating for Stevenage tomorrow.

This has been made using the latest range of Christmas stamps by Denami. I will be demonstrating these tomorrow so if you are going to the show do stop by Stamp Addicts's stand (where I will be busy beavering away) and say hello!

Friday 7 August 2009

Penny Black Stickers

Well I just about managed not to melt in yesterday's heat!! According to our local news yesterday was the hottest day we have had for 3 years!! Thankfully it did rain last night which has cooled it down (a bit!) and at the moment it is slightly overcast here so I'm hoping that today will be a lot cooler! It certainly is at the moment.

Anyway onto the card.......this is one that we made in the afternoon class at The Glitter Pot and is really quick to do. As well as having a great range of flower stamps Penny Black also do some fabulous themed sticker sheets. This particular flower sticker is from a sheet called Garden Poems - all the colouring and the stamping has been done for you so all I had to do was stick it onto a brown panel and trim around to give it a brown border.

You'll notice that I did a little bit of stamping using the Penny Black Scrolling Along and Best Wishes stamps. For this I used Timber Brown StazOn as I felt that black would be too harsh.

The background papers are by My Minds Eye - I picked these two colours as they matched really closely to the colours already printed on the sticker. What I particularly like about the Penny Black stickers is that they do not look like 'normal' stickers - they really look as if you have stamped them yourself so are a really great cheat for when you need a card in a hurry!

All the materials used on this card are available from The Glitter Pot.

It's Sooooooo Hot!!!

Morning everyone. I thought I had better do my daily post before I melt!!! It is SOOOOOO hot here today on the south east coast. I know that lots of people really like the heat but being so fair skinned I am one of those people who just wilt!

Anyway here is the other card that we made last Friday in the morning at The Glitter Pot. This is another Penny Black stamp called Constellations. Penny Black is one of my all time favourite stamp companies - I LOVE flower stamps and PB do some great modern flowery type stamps. (This of course can be purchased from The Glitter Pot.)

The other day I had to have my photograph taken - now there is a reason for this which I will share with you another time but meanwhile I have loaded the photo onto my sidebar so you can all see what I look like! Normally I will run a mile before having my photo taken but sometimes needs must!!

Another thing I have just loaded onto my sidebar is the Twilight fan logo that Isa Norris designed. I have just finished reading the Twilight book and can't wait to start on the next one now! Infact if I wasn't busy preparing for Stevenage on Sunday I would quite like to be sat outside in the shade with my head in a book. I LOVE reading but unfortunately, just recently, I haven't had much time for that!!

Classes at The Craft Barn

Good morning. Just wanted to let you all know that I will be taking a morning and afternoon class at The Craft Barn on Saturday 19th September just incase anyone is interested. This is my first time there for a few months!!

The weekend prior to that I will be at The Craft Barn's Extravaganza Weekend showing you some pretty Christmas cards using the Whiff Of Joy Herb snowman and some of the new Sarah Kay Christmas stamps so for my classes (the following Saturday) I will be showing you in detail how to make some beautiful cards using these stamps. I do hope that you can join me!

.........................................

By the way have any of you seen the debut stamp collection of Isa Norris - they are absolutely beautiful and they will be available at The Craft Barn in a few weeks time. Meanwhile to see Isa's designs click here to hop on over to her blog.

Pretty Pastels

Finally I have loaded up the cards we did the other week at The Glitter Pot and here is the first one using the Penny Black Burst of Stars stamp for the main image.

The wording is from a Hero Arts clear stamp set and the background stamp (on the lilac panel) is the Scrolling Along stamp by Penny Black.

All these stamps can be purchased from The Glitter Pot.

For You

Morning everyone. It is a lovely sunny morning too here on the south east coast of England.

The blog candy has now been claimed but my sincere thanks to all of you who entered.

Today I am posting up the very last of the cards I did for The Craft Barn's Extravaganza Weekend in June. This was made (as I am sure you can guess by now!!) with my Funky Frames and Fancy Flourishes stamp sheets. The imagery was coloured using Coloursoft pencils and Sansador.

All the products including the stamp sheets are available from The Craft Barn plus of course you can purchase the sheets from The Stamp Man as well.

I still haven't had chance yet to upload the cards we did at The Glitter Pot the other week but I'll see if I can do that either today or tomorrow and then I'll post them up.

I have made a whole host of cards recently but haven't had the chance to scan any of them in so I'll have to see if I can start doing that at a later date - but it is going to be a mammoth task!!

And The Winner Is.............

My thanks to all of you who entered my latest blog candy giveaway and who spread the word and an extra big thank you to those of you who signed up to follow my blog - it was very much appreciated.

According to the random number generator the winner is...........

Cathy Harris from Ashford (No.28)

So congratulations Cathy. To claim your prize you will need to email The Stamp Man or phone them on 01756 797048 with your details telling them that you are the winner of my blog candy giveaway before midday Wednesday 5th August 2009. I hope that you enjoy your prize! Don't forget if the prize isn't claimed by then a new winner will be drawn!!

Time Flies Past!!

Morning everyone. So far this morning I have been trying to catch up with a few things. I know I said this only a couple of days ago but I just cannot believe that we are now into August - I am still baffled as to where July went??

It really doesn't seem possible that the Stevenage show is only a week away and what really shocked me was looking at my blog and discovering that my birthday is only 32 days away!! When I first loaded that counter onto my sidebar at the beginning of the year it seemed like some far off event and now it seems that it is nearly upon me! The really frightening thing is that as yet I haven't sorted out anything to do for my 40th. I am most definitely not a 'party person' as I hate being in the limelight so originally I thought it might be nice to go out to dinner somewhere with a select bunch of friends but the trouble with this is that only one of my close friends lives locally - all the others are dotted around the country with their own lives to lead. So I am not too sure quite what to do now - if anyone has got any brilliant ideas I'd love to hear them!!

On a totally different note now Pauline has very kindly done some research on Rita's behalf regarding a double poppy stamp and you can find the links here within the comment section.

I'll be posting up the winner for the blog candy a little later on..............

Saturday 1 August 2009

Blog Candy Is Now Closed

Good morning everyone. My thanks to everyone who entered my latest blog candy giveaway - it is now closed and I will be announcing the winner tomorrow around midday so don't forget to check back then to see if you have won!!

Normal service is now resumed and I can start responding to any questions or comments that you may leave and in answer to your question that you left a few days ago Rita - I don't know of any double poppy stamps off-hand so I am going to throw the question out to the rest of you!! If anyone else knows of a double poppy rubber stamp perhaps you could let me know.

Meanwhile my sincere thanks to all of you who have left me such lovely comments for these past few weeks - some of them really made me smile so THANK YOU!!
