AWOL!!

Morning everyone. Yesterday for the first time in ages (about 4 months actually) I went shopping with my Mum to Eastbourne. We used to go quite regularly together - maybe once or twice a month - but because I have been so busy recently we hadn't been for ages, so yesterday we finally made it! I had promised Mum that we would go shopping together as it is her birthday the day after mine and so we both needed to go present shopping!! We spent the whole day over at Eastbourne and came home thoroughly exhausted! I really did not want to get up this morning at all!! Still we both managed to buy things and neither of us will have long to wait to open them up.

I cannot believe how much Eastbourne had changed since we had last been over there. Both of us like to shop in Principles and so we made our way to the Principles part of Debenhams only to find that it was no longer there! Then upon going to the Principles shop in the Arndale Centre we discovered just a few racks of clothing with a Closing Down notice! We both vowed that shopping will never be the same again now!! Another favourite clothes shop of mine had completely disappeared and several other shops had closed down too. So when you see me dressed in rags you will understand why!!!

Anyway no more time off for me from work. I have lots to do and so need to really get beavering away.

While I was over Eastbourne I looked to see if Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer is out in paperback yet but I didn't come across it. Does anyone know when it is due out? I saw the hard cover version but I have the others in paperback and so would prefer to wait until Breaking Dawn is out in paperback too. The other day I finished reading New Moon (the second book in the Twilight series) which was really good. Stephanie has this knack of making you want to keep reading - I just love books like this. I found the same thing with all the Harry Potter books too - I just didn't want to put them down and had to be VERY disciplined!! I am now being good and actually reading an adult book but after I've finished it I will probably treat myself to reading the third book in the Twilight series - Eclipse. Infact since going to see the latest Harry Potter film I have got the urge to re-read all those books too!! What can I say??? Obviously I am a big kid at heart!!

Anyway I had better go and do some work......

Hello Kay
Pleased you managed to get some time off & have a well earned day out with your Mum.
I haven't been to Eastbourne for several years so I probably wouldn't recognise the place now.
Isn't it so depressing going into town centres these days??
So many shops no longer there & the ones that are no longer stock your favourite brands.
Haven't come across Stephanie Meyer but will be going to my Book Club this evening so will enquire if anyone there knows when her book will be out in paperback.
Don't worry about being a big kid at heart it's a good trait to have.

Hi Rita. I don't know about being a big kid at heart is a good thing but I don't think I am going to change now! I'm not surprised that you haven't heard of Stephanie Meyer as I don't suppose you are in the habit of reading kid's books!! However if you do find out anything let me know!

Town centres are certainly not the same now at all. It only takes a few boarded up shop fronts for the towns to take on an air of neglect. Even so I did enjoy my time yesterday with my Mum.

Hi Kay

Bad news regarding the paperback version of Breaking Dawn I'm afraid. It was supposed to be out at the beginning of August (I was very excited about this prospect!), but unfortunately the publishers have delayed it until 2010 - I found this out by emailing the publisher direct. Was not very impressed. I recommend borrowing it from the library or looking in a charity shop if you can't wait until next year. If you are as addicted as I am, you won't be able to wait!!

Hi Michelle,

Thanks so much for letting me know about Breaking Dawn. I thought that it must be quite imminent but I definitely cannot wait until 2010 so perhaps I will have to bite the bullet and get the hardback after all!! Normally I do prefer paperbacks as they take up less room and are lighter to hold but I did have to succumb to getting the last Harry Potter book in hardback so I guess I'll have to with this one as well. At least it isn't one of those great BIG hardbacks. Thanks so much for letting me know - I really appreciate it.
