Art Deco Ladies

Morning everyone.  A few days ago I promised to show you the card that I did for my Aunt's 65th birthday.  Well here it is!  I don't think that I have ever made a card without any stamping on it before and I probably won't ever again!  However I knew that my Aunt loves the Clinton Cards Art Deco ladies as much as I do so I scanned in one of the pictures from my Clinton Cards slimline calendar and printed it out onto glossy paper.  I then layered it up onto some foiled, glittery, glossy and pearlescent cardstock that I have had laying around for ages.  The circles were cut using my Nestabilities and the numbers were also die cut using my Cuttlebug Curls and Swirls alphabet set.  The decorative corners were done using one of my new Martha Stewart punches that I purchased recently from The Craft Barn!  And although you can't see it very well in this photo I added lots of stickles to the ladies too.  The ribbon came from Quixotic Paperie.  I am really into this raffia type of ribbon at the moment as being see through you can still see the rest of the card peeping through it!

As you can see I decorated the inside of this card too using the same materials as for the front of the card and generated the greeting using my computer.

Here's a closer picture of the inside panel.

I did make a box for the card to go in which was stamped so I did get some sort of stamping in!!  Didn't take a photo of this though.

Even though there isn't any stamping on the card I thought that I would share this with you anyway!  I hope you like it!!

Hi Kay,

I love the Art Deco Ladies as well and I love this card, even if it doesn't have any stamping on it. I'm sure your Auntie will treasure it.

What weight of c/s do you use to make boxes for your cards?

Hugs, Pauline x

I'm so glad you shared this with us Kay, it's gorgeous. I love these images too and have the calander on the kitchen wall.
I love how you've created your card, it's so classy and the colours work together beautifully.
It'll be a card that will be treasured I'm sure.

Thanks very much ladies. I'm so glad you liked the card. My Aunt phoned me last night (as it was her birthday yesterday) and she liked it too! Thank goodness!

Pauline - I use the thickest card that I can lay my hands on! Normally around 300gsm.

Lisa - I can't remember what I said in my missing comment now! It was something like 'It was a really good first effort! If you try this technique again try using a more muted colour for the background stamping as this tends to work better.'
I am currently working on a concertina card using this technique, for my class at The Glitter Pot so once we have done the class I'll post it up to show you what I mean!

Lovely card Kay - just proves that you don't always have to reach for the stamps to make a wonderful card! Jo x

Hello Kay
Just catching up after quite an absence due to a family problem that took us away from home for 2 months, then Ken followed by me were ill, guess it all caught up with us both!
Like the card but then I like most things you create.
Only wish I too had that calendar.
Hope you had a good Christmas.
Best regards, a.k.a. Rita x

Love this card! Very classy. It's very rare I would make a card without at least a little bit of stamping on it somewhere, but I think sometimes it's a good idea to try & do something a bit different, then you come back to your favourite technique with fresh eyes.
